Cuyahoga Weavers Guild

Weaving and other fiber-based fun for 45 years and counting

Fundraiser for the Peninsula Art Academy, November 2nd

Member Caroline Urgo shared this email from Carol Adams regarding an upcoming event.

Dear friends,

As you may know 10 years ago, Edna Ratner, Steve Craig and I founded the Peninsula Art Academy. We have been happily creating, teaching and exhibiting art in all mediums, hosting events and offering not only a gallery to present our artists, but a space for musicians to hone their skills and delight their audiences. We have recently come upon financial difficulties because of a huge raise in our rent and more recently, the closing of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

The PAA is a non-profit organization, whose mission is to teach art to the public of all ages. The scope of our capabilities is unlimited and if we do not currently teach one particular medium, we welcome those who can. I am currently acting president of our board as well as a teacher, exhibitor and head of The Fiber Café, our group of fiber artists. That group has produced 10 years of fine art fiber shows as well as the “Fiber Fling,” a very successful three-day festival featuring raw-to-finished materials created out of every type of ‘fiber’ as well as the live animals whose glorious coats furnished such fiber.

We are hosting an emergency fundraiser on November 2nd, and it’s going to be a delightful and artful evening. Please find our invitation attached.

We really need your help to keep our doors open and to continue teaching and promoting the arts. The price of your ticket to this fundraiser includes a membership to the Peninsula Art Academy and all of its benefits, and the cost of your ticket is fully tax deductible.

The fundraiser, just after Halloween, is keeping in that vein of costume and fun!

So please come dressed for fun, and prizes to be given for the best costume!

Thanking you in advance for your participation and if you find you cannot attend, please donate to our institution to help our cause.

Sincerely,

Carol Adams
