Hello Fiber Folk
While the good folks are all hunkering in place, be aware that bad people are everywhere. I can personally testify.
There’s a new internet nasty out there. They pretend to be PayPal (which is closed by virus and has no people to talk to)
They’ll tell you you just paid $500.00 to the Google Play Store (which you didn’t do) and contact their highlighted phone # if you think there’s an issue.
THIS IS NOT A REAL PAYPAL PHONE NUMBER
A few days later, you’ll get an email that seems to be Microsoft telling you that you just spent (and they delivered) a $499.99 update of the Windows Defender. (you didn’t) They provide another phone # for you to contact.
THIS IS NOT A REAL MICROSOFT PHONE NUMBER
(cheeky little buggers to use security to scam you)
When you actually call Microsoft, they will check your account and find
you have had no activity. They’ll take notes and issue you a case number.
Then you call the Federal Trade Commission. They will want all the addresses and phone numbers from the emails, and you’ll get another case number.
If you don’t want to make the phone calls, fine. But please don’t click on anything or call the numbers they provide. I’m told this is a ransomware thing.
Stay safe. Stay Healthy.😷
