Hello Cuyahoga Weavers,
This memo is to remind you that next Thursday, August 18th is dyeing day for our guild. We will start at 10:00 and dye until 2:00 (or when ever you run out of fun.)
The location is Jean & Bob Breitzmann’s home.
103 Silver Springs Trail
We are in South Russell.
Our street if off Bell Road, a little over a mile east of route 306.
Bring a bag lunch if you like. We will have drinks and a few treats.
We will meet rain or shine. Right now the weather forecast shows a 38% chance of rain, but if it does rain we will be dyeing in our three car garage.
We will have four natural dye pots that you can use.
Black walnut, indigo, cochineal, and madder.
These pots will dye your wool, cotton, or linen( protein or cellulose ).
If you plan to use these natural dyes, please soak your fiber in water for a minimum of 24 hours before you come.
The dye pots require the fiber to “cook” for over an hour. While you are waiting we will also have chemical dyes for protein and for cellulose that you can use. For theses dyes wool should be fully wet, but the cellulose should be dry.
I plan to be working on a cotton painted warp and painted weft project.
If you don’t have any fiber that you want to dye, the guild has linen and cotton place mats that are available for 50 cents that goes to dyeing supplies.
You may want to wear an apron, or other clothes that might get stained.
Please Email to Robert.Breitzmann@gmail.com if you plan to attend so we can have enough tables setup.
Hope to see you next Thursday,
Bob Breitzmann
