For our May meeting, we will assemble at Praxis, 15301 Waterloo  before heading to the Digital Weaving Lab for a tour.  They would like to headcount, so please email Sheri if you plan to attend (beemerquilter@yahoo.com)
There are a couple options nearby for those interested in lunch afterwards, so also note if you are interested in lunch.  Beachwood Ballroom is right down the street, as is Citizen Pie or a little further on Lakeshore is Beach Club Bistro (which opens at 1) but it would be helpful to give them a heads-up to know how many to expect.

Meeting to follow?
Our guest speaker for March will be Jordan Salkin (JoEllens’s daughter for anyone who isn’t aware). Jordan’s presentation is called “Master the Photography of Fiber,” and she will be sharing her best tips and tricks for taking photos of your work. She will go over lighting techniques, how to frame your photo with the perfect composition and background, and will even share a few editing tips.
Jordan is a scientific photographer at NASA’s Glenn Research Center. She has won numerous awards for her work, including awards with the Plain Dealer, Rochester Institute of Technology where she went to school, and with NASA. Jordan has also been published in several books and articles including in The Plain Dealer, The New York Times, F-Stoppers, two textbooks and the Smithsonian’s Air and Space Magazine. SPRING newsletter deadline is March 1

Snowdrops have been sighted. The newsletter deadline is now March 1.

Please send newsletter materials, especially items of your, hopefully, cozy doings at the loom. A President’s letter, program notes,  upcoming April Workshop details, study group schedule notes and member’s profile will all be welcome.

No doubt that photos of your projects, a new technique or yarn you are trying,  or a weaving reference book you have discovered will be welcome. Or even an essay about your weaving adventures, discoveries, or compatriots. Perhaps a quandary that you would like help with.

CWG February Meeting is Thursday, February 15 Live and via ZOOM

12:00     Program:  Great Weave Structures for Color and Texture using Novelty Yarns by Robyn Spady
Walk into most yarn shops and its easy to become fascinated with stunning novelty yarns. But if you’re a weaver, it can be a challenge to figure out how to incorporate them into weaving projects in order to showcase the yarns without breaking the bank. In this program, a variety of weave structures will be reviewed to add new dimension to your weaving and let you take advantage of fun and exciting yarns.

Robyn will be joining us via Zoom, so please try to arrive before program begins, if possible.
We hope to see you all at this first meeting of the year, but members may join us by Zoom if inclement weather.

CWG’s Cleveland Museum of Art and Egytomania field trip–a follow up

Guild members enjoyed a tour of Egyptomania by Laura Martin, and even had the opportunity to meet curator Darnell Jamal-Lisby.  Laura also showed us textiles that are currently on view in other galleries of CMA.  Below is a listing up upcoming attractions that Laura has shared.

CWG December meeting is a field trip–Thursday, December 18 10:00am

We will be meeting at the Cleveland Museum of Art on January 18th to view Egyptomania: Fashion’s Conflicted Obsession.  Docent and Guild member Laura Martin will shed light on “how ancient Egyptian funerary objects and processes have led to dynamic fashion designs..celebrating a culture that is the bedrock of many societies across history and today.”
Meet in the CMA main lobby at 10:15.  NOTE: the CMA opens at 10:00
