Epic Sale of the Century
Join us the last full weekend of September in beautiful Cleveland Heights Ohio for the
2021 Cuyahoga Weavers Guild
“Dead Weavers Sale”
Friday, Saturday and Sunday
September 23rd, 24th and 25th
9am to 4pm
No early birds please.
Driveway for loading and unloading only!
2980 Washington Blvd. 44118
This is our last sale from this location
Combining the curiosity of 7 fiber working women, this is the last stash of weavers that the craft has lost. It will be an epic sale of the century. We have looms, spinning wheels, tools and equipment, yarn, books and magazines concerning weaving, spinning, knitting and crochet, needlework and quilting, leather, lace and felting. These artistic souls studied all forms and facets of fiber, and what they left behind needs new hands and new homes. Prices are so low it’ll definitely be worth the drive from anywhere.
September meeting is Thursday, September 9 and SOONER than usual
Our first meeting is advanced this year due to Yom Kippur being on the 16th.
So please join us on September 9, 2021

We do have some business to attend to regarding the sale at the end of September and a proposal for and vote on a new treasurer for the guild as well as confirmation of our meeting space.
Bring any new things to the Sept. meeting. Our September 9 meeting will be at Osborne Park again. Please ask the heavens for good weather. B.Y.O. lunch ands drinks. Contact Bobbie for directions.
Fall newsletter deadline is approaching—September 1
Eeek, September 1 gives very short notice. So, let’s extend the deadline to September 5. Please send newsletter materials, especially items of summer doings and program notes for the upcoming CWG year.
No doubt that photos of your projects, a new technique or yarn you are trying, or a weaving reference book you have discovered will be welcome. Or even an essay about your weaving adventures, discoveries, or compatriots. Perhaps a quandary that you would like help with. And don’t forget news of our upcoming sale.
In earlier discussions about the foibles of our weaving work might fit into a new column based on Penelope’s weaving tactics——you know, the part where she weaves and unweaves. We all have stories about our version so please send yours.
Memories and stories of Jean Jackson are plentiful. Let’s share some for this newsletter issue.

Shelly is selling a baby wolf
I have a Schacht Baby Wolf for sale. It is 6 years old. I bought it new from Schacht in May, 2016. I paid $3000 for it with taxes. It is not my main loom so I’ve only used it about twice a year with no more than 5 yard warps on it each time. It has a trapper keeper and is a high shaft loom. It has a light with it.
Today’s cancellation
CWG is having an amazing sale. Look for it at September’s end
Hello to enthusiastic weavers, spinners, knitters and quilters!! Please pass the following information to your groups and guilds. This is possibly the largest guild sale we have ever had and look forward to sharing the richness.

Calling all volunteers!! CWG Sale preparations begin July 28
Please find some volunteer time in your calendar.
Starting July 28th, we will have weekly Wednesday workdays at the Jackson house. I will be there every Wednesday from 10am to 2pm. Jean’s children have done all the heavy lifting that I anticipated, so now we only need to identify and price everything. This in itself is a huge job.
Change in date for CWG Sale and its preparation
For those of you not at June’s meeting and potluck, you may not know that plans for the CWG sale had to change drastically. Victoria has been in close contact with Jean’s family, making plans for building a CWG storage shed, and planning work parties for the sale. This update will help you plan how you’d like to volunteer when the time comes.

Wherever Jean is, she’s smiling at the plan her children have put in place. They put our plan aside and replaced it. Our original plan of the end of August was extended to become the end of September. CHANGE IT ON YOUR CALENDAR NOW! We are definitely doing the whole LAST WEEKEND IN SEPTEMBER. Start telling folks. Pass the word. It’s official.
They also completely altered my plan for all of the heavy stuff, and they will no doubt be blessed. Especially by me. Their plan is to meet in two weeks to empty the garage, move everything from the shed into the garage, bring all the books out to the garage and onto the newly empty shelves. They talk of tarps and taking respectful care. After July 24th, we can then enter through the side door and work at our leisure to handle all the cleaning, sorting and pricing that has to happen. When we get closer to the actual sale date, we will arrange a date to bring all the yarn out from the house. After July 24th, I plan to schedule weekly work sessions up to the sale date. Come when you can, but let me know your plan.
The storage sheds will definitely be in place before the sale. There will be two. I will share that story when they’re up, but I will say now that we managed to stay within the budget.
That’s what I know so far as of 7/13/2021.
