Complex Weavers recognizes Bob Breitzmann’s Letting Go
“My goal was to visualize the release from letting go of conflict. The design line was chosen to create the general form. The tie-up was chosen to create bands of color with a sense of depth, and appearance of light coming from above. The weft gradient from a light blue at the top to a dark navy at the bottom reinforces the effect of light shining from above. The warp gradient from purple to gold to purple brings focus to the center with cares falling away. The rose path network was chosen to create the gauze brush strokes.”
The Details:
Techniques:
Warp and weft are hand dyed gradients, each with 25 interleaved colors. Structure is a network draft with a 6-high rose path initial for the threading and the treadling.
Dimensions:
27.625 x 27.625 x 0.75
Materials:
16/2 Hemp
Loom:
32 Shaft Louet

Announcing “Rocking Braids and Bands” conference–great opportunity
This announcement was sent to Bob. Doesn’t it sound interesting? And might you be willing to share any of the equipment they are seeking?
I am writing as one of the organizers of Braids. 2025, Rocking Braids & Bands which will be held in Cleveland, OH, USA from June 15 – 21, 2025. These International Braid Conferences have been held every three years beginning in Japan in 2010, followed by England in 2013, Tacoma, WA in 2016, Japan in 2019, Denmark in 2022, and now Cleveland, OH in 2025.
Classes will be offered that uses a variety of equipment including:
- Ayatakadai
- Takadai
- Marudai
- Inkle Looms
- Tablet Weaving Looms.
Since conference attendees come from all over the world, and some of this equipment is heavy/bulky, we are working to have equipment for attendees to rent if they need it. Sally Vourlojianis of the Western Reserve Spinning and Weaving Guild gave me your name as the contact person for the Cuyahoga Weavers Guild. I’m wondering if you would pass this information on to your members. I’d like to know if any of your members have any of the equipment listed above that they would be willing to loan to the Braids 2025 committee for this conference. If so, they can contact me directly and let me know what equipment they are willing to loan or with questions about the conference.
I’m also hoping that some of your members will consider attending the conference. Go to braids2025.com for more information about the conference.
Thank you for your help with this.
